I have a couple of never-played promotional tapes from about 1987 that I
would like to capture to digital format. Unfortunately, they're Sony 3/4-
inch, and I neither have such a deck nor have access to one.

Anyone have a 3/4 deck I can borrow for a few hours? I'm an experienced AV
tech and will handle it gently; will pay or trade interesting items for
rent.

Thanks.

I have a portable 3/4 deck but it only takes the
mini u-matic cartridges. Is that any help?

Not big enough. A mini has the
same distance between hubs but is only
about 7-8 inches longways. They
only have 20 minutes of tape and
were used for field production.

Sorry.

Ali at Surplus Stuff in Sac has a
U-matic player. I think it's marked
$89, but he'd probably let it go
for $30-$40. It's a newer model
and will play a standard size tape.

It is...

I suggest you go there on a saturday
when Ali is around. His help is usually
not willing to do deals whereas Ali is.
He's almost always there on saturday.

The above address is wrong. He's now
at 8505 Folsom, just short of the flea
market if you're coming off Power Inn Rd.
